How can ANTIPIT stop Pitting and Corrosion to Alloy Wheels

ANTIPIT is a unique product that charges to the rescue.

Simply it is a sacrificial device that has an electrical potential higher than the Alloy wheel and in so doing selectively channels the highest voltage potential through the to the sacrificial component contained in Anti Pit that in turn selectively corrodes as a first order material in preference to the Alloy wheels. In short we have removed the preferred route of corrosion to a dedicated component with a built in sacrificial element.

That is a brief synopsis of the first part of the process, the second part is equally tedious and to prove light is at the end of the tunnel.

Anti Pit have not only considered the active process but taken care that the visible effect of deterioration has not simply moved elsewhere but contained the residue in specialised conductive housing that form part of the decorative wheel nut covers.

Simply by adopting this approach several further factors are addressed. Wheels and tyres are probably the most critical part of any vehicle and under no circumstances can the integrity of these components are compromised; even balancing weights must be regarded as a temporary attachment.

To overcome this difficulty yet keeps the sacrificial member in close proximity to the Alloy wheel; the obvious choice of location is as near to the mechanical fixing that attaches the wheel to the rest of the car as reasonably possible. In fact the wheel fixing studs and it was for that reason the anodic element forms part of a decorative snap on wheel nut cap.

This location has further advantages in that being near to the centre of rotation of the wheel and are equi-spaced the added nut covers will not upset the balancing of a pre balanced wheel. But most importantly of all they remain bright and shiny reflecting the polished chromium surface finish of the nut cover but, internally and out of sight, the preferential anodic element that slowly disintegrates in preference to the Alloy wheel without showing the traces oxidisation and staining that normally would occur.

Attachment couldn’t be simpler, it is always advisable to first remove the nut covers from the transit pack then simply place over a fully tightened wheel nut and press into place. A correctly fitted Anti Pit nut cover should cover as much, if not all of the nut faces and will feel firm on the nut without wobbling.

Included in the Anti Pit kit is an extractor tool, this will be necessary if for any reason the wheel is to be removed; simply slip the hooked jaws over the flanged section of the nut cover and pull. The nut cover will simply slide off. Do not allow mechanics or tyre fitters to pull or prise the Anti Pit nut cover off with screwdrivers or pliers as this will damage the decorative mirror finish and possibly compromise the function of the anodic material.

Anti Pit is not a magic bullet and it cannot reverse the process of existing deterioration that may include pitting, its prime function is to minimise the effect of the natural process of galvanic deterioration in sacrificing an element of its construction in preference to the expensive Aluminium or Magnesium Alloy wheels.
